Dr. Richard A. Cirelli, MD, FAAD is a board certified dermatologist. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology, and is a Diplomat of the American Board of Dermatology. He is a medical doctor who has three additional years of training in dermatology from the University of Michigan. This enables him to specialize in taking care of patients' medical, surgical and cosmetic skin care needs. Dr. Cirelli will personally help you make informed, educated choices about dermatological treatments. Whether your needs are medical, cosmetic or both, a feeling of confidence and peace comes with knowing you are taking care of your skin, the body's largest organ.
We are dedicated to you and your skin's health and beauty. We stay up to date on the latest techniques and procedures. We have new "state of the art" facilities. Doctor Cirelli is the only one who diagnoses and treats patients at SunWest Dermatology. We do not have PA's and NP's (physician's assistants and Nurse Practitioners) due to the specialty nature of the practice. There are two licensed RN's who assist Dr. Cirelli but they do not see patients on their own. One RN does, however, perform chemical peels and laser treatments.
Since Dr. Cirelli sees all patients personally, there is continuity of care. At SunWest Dermatology, we help patients make informed educational choices about their dermatological treatments.
"Skin is the great protector. Its outer layer, the epidermis, is thinner than Saran Wrap; it is stain-resistant and waterproof. Tightly woven epidermal cells form a sturdy barrier to hold moisture in as well as keep unwanted water out. On the surface, dead, compacted, and sloughing cells add toughness, a kind of see-through coat of armor. With cleverness the military would envy, the epidermis brims with stem cells ready to spin out reinforcements as needed, and pigment-producing melanocytes to deflect skin's No. 1 enemy--the sun. Its rays are especially damning to the skin's middle layer, the dermis. Suffused with collagen, the dermis brings firmness--and when collagen is broken down, wrinkles and sags... Man has never made anything better as sensor, shield, and communicator." - Bernadine Healy, M.D. U.S. News & World Report, 11/14/2005
