Cowan Horse Adventures offers trailrides on horseback in the Southwest Tucson area. If you have some horseback riding experience we can give you a trailride to remember.
We are a family run carriage and horseback riding operation. Our feeling is most people would rather have a more personal trail riding experience. Therefore, we are offering trailrides for individuals or parties of no more than four. You get to pick the start time and choose from a variety of trails. Trails range from easy and flat to mountainous and challenging. We can guide you through the typical Sonoran Desert including giant saguaro cactus. Or, take you to a grass and oak rangeland with great and current ranching traditions. At any point wildlife or cattle may be seen. Because our rides are designed around the individual you will be able to witness the beauty of Arizona at your own pace. We can spend time at any spot and admire the views that present themselves. Our goal is to provide you with the trail riding experience that is out of the ordinary.

We offer a variety of gentle horses. Mount selection is based on your skill level and size. Please check out our Meet Your Mounts Section.

Not being a typical riding stable we also can accommodate the non-rider. We offer small group rides where the non-rider can come along in a horse drawn all terrain carriage. They get to be part of the outing without having to be on a horse. The carriage can accommodate 3 passengers easily. See the pictures in the Carriage Ride Section. Please check in the Trails Section for the trails that are suitable for the carriage. These are dirt cattle ranch roads, where you will see, range cows, sometimes deer and all of the desert wildlife and beauty with out having to maneuver a horse.

We are promoting riding experiences for the experienced rider. All of the trails we use have some obstacles. It is important that our guests have some riding experience and can maneuver a horse and control their speed. Being able to mount and dismount with little or no help is also important.

The trail rides last at least 2 hours and prices start at $90.00 per person. The most challenging Saguaro National Park trails (some require we purchase additional permits) are $130.00.
Carriage rides are also at least 2 hours and start at $150.00 with one passenger, each additional passenger is $50.00.

For our out of town guests staying at hotels in the southwest side of Tucson, (from downtown, west and south to the International Airport) we can offer to pick you up as part of the trail package. We will pick you up with the truck and trailer and all go together to the trailhead.
We do not ride out from where the horses are stabled. All rides are by appointment only. We trailer to all the trails.
