United States Environmental Protection Agency issues final Lead Renovation, Repair, and Painting Program rule.
Many of you are aware of the EPA Lead Certification requirement. Training classes are being held in Phoenix and we have talked with Allstate Services Environmental, Inc. and they are willing to come to Prescott to present a training class.
This ruling covers and applies to any renovation activity in any such premise, including but not limited to any repair, modification, maintenance, painting, modernization or weatherization activity that disturbs a painted surface. The EPA rule also requires that all renovation activities be performed and directed by an individual who has become certified by successfully completing the renovator training from an accredited training provider. This training and certification requirement of this rule is effective beginning April 22, 2010, and only firms and individuals who have been trained and certified as of that date may continue to perform renovation activities in pre-1978 housing and child-occupied dwellings or facilities.
