IT equipment or components that are determined to be too old, broken, or undesirable are broken down to their basic materials and distributed to whatever appropriate recyclers that can most efficiently process the materials. These recyclers must be approved by DMD and other authorities determined by the level of security and environmental risk
DMD makes your life easier by implementing a comprehensive de-installation, documentation, and transportation plan that allows you to be hands-off the asset disposal process. Whether handled directly by DMD personnel or coordinated through a qualified subcontractor, DMD assumes responsibility for the entire process - from de-installation to final transport.
Once a part, system, or component passes the refurbishing stage, every effort is made to reuse it in its current form. DMD first determines whether it can be used to repair a system or a larger peripheral that can then be made fully operational. If no larger components can benefit from the refurbished part, it is remarketed globally to wholesale repair markets or through internet marketing sources.
After evaluating each item marked for processing, DMD takes those items deemed usable and puts them through a rigorous testing process. This establishes current condition and determines what is needed to bring the item up to manufacturer's specifications. During the evaluation process, hard drives and other sensitive media are set aside to either be wiped or destroyed. These units are scanned in to our destruction database with their serial number and the serial number of the original unit. After the data has been destroyed, through wiping or physical destruction, their status is updated and the drives are reused or recycled.
