The Riva Yares Gallery, founded in 1964, with locations in Scottsdale, Arizona and Santa Fe, New Mexico, offers two of the primary art spaces in the country for the exhibition of museum-level modern and contemporary art.
As the longest established contemporary gallery in the region, with over 15,000 square feet of gallery space, Riva Yares has orchestrated exhibitions for some of the most important modern and contemporary painters including Milton Avery, Helen Frankenthaler, Adolph Gottlieb, Hans Hofmann, Alex Katz, Yves Klein, Morris Louis, Kenneth Noland, Jules Olitski, George Segal, Esteban Vicente, Tom Wesselmann, among others.
Of the over fifty artists represented by Riva Yares at some juncture over the past thirty-eight years, more than a dozen have international roots and include Armand Arman, Fernando Botero, Carlo Maria Mariani, Roberto Mrquez, Roberto Matta, and Jess Soto.
Several well-known sculptors showing at both locations are Fletcher Benton, Johan Creten, Rico Eastman, Robert Graham, and Manuel Neri.
The gallery publishes select catalogues and books that document the scope of solo-exhibitions inclusive of critical essays, expansive color reproductions, and concise biographies. Recent books include: Milton Avery: The Nude and Other Subjects: 1929-1963 (64 pages with 50 color illustrations) and Esteban Vicente: A Retrospective View: 1951-2000 (72 pages with 48 color illustrations).
The Riva Yares Gallery has been profiled in virutally every major art publication including Art in America, ArtNews, Art & Auction, as well as Architectural Digest.
The Riva Yares Gallery has been a member of the ADAA (Art Dealers Association of America) for the past ten years. Founder and Director Riva Yares sits on the board of many arts-related entities and is active within the full continuum of cultural affairs both in Santa Fe and in Scottsdale. The Riva Yares Foundation has recently underwritten in part, the current traveling Milton Avery Retrospective (Milwaukee Art Museum, The Norton, Palm Beach, FL, UCLA's Hammer Museum, CA) and the educational programs for the forthcoming Hans Hofmann exhibit at the Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art featuring selections from the UC-Berkeley Museum collection.
