In clicker training, the clicker is used to mark a desired behavior at precisely the time it occurs so that it becomes very clear to the dog what behavior earned him a reward. The unique sound of the clicker imprints on a part of the brain called the amygdala and makes the sound of the clicker very powerful to the dog. Clicker training is easy, fun and extremely effective. When we first became new puppy parents, we asked for help from Home Dog Training. Being new parents, we thought in-home individual training would work out best for our puppy as well as for us. The trainer was very informative and provided a great deal of information; homework assignments helped to ensure we followed through with the lessons learned during the training.
